American Seed Growers and Hybridizers

Here is a small list of American Seed growers and/or Hybridizers. Feel free to add any you’ve encountered in the comments!

Seeds:

Johnny’s Selected Seeds (Maine) - have developed a few varieties of Zinnia and Celosia seeds. They also staff Farmers in their call centers, so if you are having crop troubles, you can likely get someone on the phone that can truly help troubleshoot.

Uprising Seeds (multiple family farms in the Pacific Northwest)- organic growers that offer flowers and vegetabe seeds.

Floret (Washington State) - Flower farmer turned seed hybridizer. Erin has released several zinnia, celosia, and dahlia seed varieties into the world.

Adaptive Seeds (Oregon) - Flower, grain, and vegetable seeds that open pollinated and organic.

Dahlia tubers: (I’ve found the best success growing dahlias from tubers grown close to me, also known as regoinally adapted)

Coseytown Dahlias (PA)- Unique dahlias that are bred in PA. I’ve found them to perform very well for our climate. There price reflects the dedication and hard work that goes into finding and producing new varieties.

Goose Creek Gardens (PA)- they sell dahlia tubers grown on their family farms to retail customers.

Bloom Hill Farm (Ohio)- A flower farm that also sells their dahlia tubers to retail customers.

Wildroot Flower Farm (Ohio)- Also a flower farm that sells retail dahlia tubers.
